Cheap French doors
Cheap French doors come down to four things with us: size, material, glass and colour. We have no fixed price list. Below is what a door leaf cost with us, in GBP excl. VAT and import duties, and the calculator estimates your size.
What a uPVC door leaf with frame cost with us
Measured on our own quotes from February 2023 to July 2026 inclusive, per unit at the size in the table. The amount is the median; the range runs from the lower to the upper quarter of the observations. Prices in GBP, excl. UK VAT and import duties, which are payable on delivery; excluding delivery and installation. This is a guide price, not a quote.
| Unit | Measured size | Typically | Range | Per m² | Quotes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Door | 1,000 × 2,300 mm | £1,331 | £1,149 – £1,442 | £579 | 23 |
Price per m² = the measured amount divided by the area of the size in the table. Where there is a dash, the spread is too wide for a single amount and the range is what counts.
Work out your French doors price
Choose the material and enter the overall size of the doors with frame. You'll see what doors of that size typically cost in our quotes. It's a guide price, not a quote: the real price comes within three working days in the made-to-measure quote.
Excluding VAT and import duties, which are payable on delivery; excluding delivery and fitting. Worked out with the price per m² of comparable doors in our quote archive; glass, colour and layout can still move the amount.
French doors prices: what sets them
The width and height decide how much frame and glass goes into the doors. uPVC is the cheaper of the two materials for a door. Triple glazing costs more than double. On screen no colour costs more than another; what your colour costs is in your made-to-measure quote.
Double French doors cost
Our French doors are always a pair in one frame, a main door and a secondary door. The opening starts at 1,200 mm, because the narrowest door leaf is 600 mm.
French doors with side panels: cost
If you want fixed glass beside the doors, it becomes a set. You put it together in the configurator and request it as one quote, so you see what the whole thing costs.
uPVC French doors supplied and fitted?
We don't give that price, because we don't install. You pay the factory price plus delivery and arrange fitting yourself or with an installer.
French doors quote
You put the doors together in the configurator, with no form first, and request a quote. It comes within three working days, with the price for your sizes, glass and colour.
How to read the calculator
The calculator works with the price per square metre of French doors we have quoted before, in the material you choose. You enter the overall size of the whole frame, both doors together, and get back a range with the number of quotes it rests on. The more quotes, the firmer the figure.
The range is in GBP, excl. UK VAT and import duties, which are payable on delivery, and without delivery: delivery to the UK is quoted with your offer. It's a guide price, not a quote: different glass or an added side panel can move the amount. If we have measured too little for your size or material, the calculator says so plainly and gives no figure.
Why a small door costs more per square metre
A few fixed parts go into every French door, however large: two sets of hinges, a lock, a handle, the closure between the two doors and a threshold. On a narrow door you spread those over fewer square metres. That's why the price per square metre drops as the doors get wider and taller, even though the total goes up.
Choices you'll see in the quote
Besides size and material, a few choices show up in the quote. Triple glazing insulates better than double and costs more. Laminated glass lowers the risk of injury if the glass breaks and makes the door harder to break through. A handle with a lock carries SKG 2 stars, the Dutch security rating for hardware. Under the doors you choose a threshold 55 or 35 mm high.
If you add one or two side panels beside the doors, or a top light above them, it becomes a larger unit with more frame and glass. You price that as one whole, so you see straight away what the entire opening costs and not just the doors.
uPVC or aluminium for French doors
uPVC is our cheapest choice for a door. Aluminium costs more, but has a slimmer sightline, so more glass fits into the same opening. If light and a slim line matter most to you, compare both in the configurator at the same size.
Building Regulations and the glass in your French doors
In England, replacement doors with more than 60% glass need a U-value of 1.4 W/m²K or Door Set Energy Rating band C; other doors 1.4 W/m²K or band D. That is the value of the whole door, not of the glass alone; the U-value of your doors is in your quote. Replacing a door can be notifiable work: an installer registered with a competent person scheme, such as FENSA or Certass, notifies it, or you notify building control beforehand. Because we don't install, your installer arranges this. Scotland and Northern Ireland have their own rules.
Frequently asked questions
How much do French doors cost?
The calculator on this page gives a guide price for your size, measured on our own quotes. The real price for your size, material, glass and colour is in the quote, within three working days.
How much do uPVC French doors cost?
Less than aluminium at the same size: uPVC is the cheaper of the two for a door. The amount for your doors is in the quote.
How can I get cheaper French doors?
You save most with uPVC and double glazing. The quote gives you the price for exactly that choice.
How much are French doors with side panels?
A set is doors plus fixed glass in one unit. Because the share of door and glass differs per set, we always price it on your size.
Is fitting included?
No. We supply, we don't install. Delivery to the UK is quoted with your offer.
Are French doors dearer than a sliding patio door?
For a narrow opening usually not; for a wide opening a sliding patio door can be the logical choice. Compare them at your size: put both together and request a quote for each.
Can I use the calculator for doors with side panels?
The calculator works with French doors only. For doors with side panels or a top light, you put the whole unit together in the configurator; the amount for the entire opening is then in your quote.
Know what you want? Put it together.
No form first: you watch your window take shape as you choose. The price follows in the quote, within three working days.
