Why a 2-pane fixed window in Schüco LivIng Slide?
LivIng Slide is the lift-and-slide patio door from Schüco's uPVC LivIng family: an 82 mm sash with a steel core, Uf 1.3 W/m²K and glass up to 54 mm thick. The sash is 82 mm deep and built up from four chambers, with a steel core inside, and achieves a Uf of 1.3 W/m²K; combined with insulating glass, a Uw down to 0.80 W/m²K is achievable. The outer frame itself is 194 mm deep, the sightline starts at 180 mm, and a single sash can be up to 3,200 mm wide and 2,600 mm high. The threshold is thermally broken and has fourteen chambers; it can be fitted flush with the floor, so you step from inside to outside without a step. Three levels of seals all round keep draughts and water out and bring the sound insulation to 45 dB. The glass can be up to 54 mm thick, so triple glazing fits too.
Schüco's uPVC lift-and-slide door: 82 mm sash, 194 mm deep frame, Uf 1.3 W/m²K, glass up to 54 mm.
Two fixed panes side by side share one wide frame, with no sash anywhere in it.
Where a single fixed window stops at one pane, this window adds a second fixed pane beside it, with a mullion between. Both panes stay fixed: no hinge, no handle, and so no hardware to maintain. That makes this the form for a wide opening where you mainly want light and a view out, and handle ventilation elsewhere in the room — at a door, or at another window in the same space.
The standard size is 1,800 × 1,500 mm, split equally between the two panes. If you do want to open part of the same width, the 2-pane window with one tilt and turn sash — one fixed pane and one tilt and turn pane — or the 2-pane window with two tilt and turn sashes — two tilt and turn panes meeting in the middle — is the form that provides for it.
