Why a 4-pane window, 1 tilt and turn in VEKA Softline 76 MD?
Softline 76 MD sits between VEKA's 70 and 82: 76 mm frame depth, five chambers and a Uf of 1.1 W/m²K. MD stands for Mitteldichtung, a centre seal. Between outer frame and sash there are three sealing levels instead of two, with the extra seal in the middle of the profile. The glazing rebate is 28 mm deep and takes glass up to 48 mm. As standard the profile is prepared for RC 2 burglar resistance; reaching the class itself needs matching hardware and glass. The chambers carry steel reinforcement, and the walls meet class A of DIN EN 12608. For the outside there are more than fifty colours and finishes, aluminium cover shells in RAL colours or the VEKA SPECTRAL surfaces. Compared with the 70 AD you gain a seal, room for thicker glass and a better Uf. The window opens inwards: tilt and turn, side-hung, tilt-only or a door.
VEKA with a centre seal, prepared for RC 2: 76 mm, glass up to 48 mm and Uf 1.1 W/m²K.
New build. Suitable. If you want the profile to insulate a little better still, look at the Softline 82 MD.
Renovation. Suitable. At 76 mm the frame sits less far into the wall than a profile of 82 mm or more.
VEKA Softline 70 AD. Same make, 6 mm shallower and with a rebate seal: two seals instead of three. You see less profile, 99 mm of frame and sash against 112 mm, but the Uf rises from 1.1 to 1.3 and the glass can be no more than 42 mm thick.
VEKA Softline 82 MD. Also a centre seal, but 6 mm deeper, with 7 chambers in the outer frame against 5 and Uf 1.0 against 1.1. It takes glass up to 54 mm. In view there is little in it: 114 mm against 112 mm.
Three panes stay fixed for the full view and the fourth opens for air: this wide window keeps the opening part to a minimum.
As with the 3-pane window with one tilt and turn sash, only one pane in the row opens here; the other three are fixed. It is the cheapest way to get ventilation across a width of 3,200 mm. In the configurator you choose which end the tilt and turn sash goes on.
The standard size is 3,200 × 1,500 mm, split equally across the four panes. If you need more air than one sash gives, the 4-pane window with two tilt and turn sashes — one at each end — is the option in the same width.
