Why a fixed window with tilt-in top light in K-vision Cube?
uPVC windows are welded at the corners, and an ordinary weld leaves a diagonal seam in the corner. On the K-vision Cube the corner is welded straight, the way a timber window is jointed. With a woodgrain foil it is hard to tell from timber at a distance, which makes it suitable for a house with period character. The profile comes from Kömmerling's K-vision system: 120 mm deep, Uf 1.20 W/m²K, 130 mm sightline and room for 48 mm glass as standard.
A square-edged K-vision (Kommerling) uPVC window with a straight corner weld — for replacing a timber window in uPVC.
A tilt-in sash at the top, a fixed pane below carrying most of the glass: this window combines ventilation up high with a large, still area of glass.
This window splits its height in two: a small bottom-hung sash at the top that tilts inward for ventilation, and a larger fixed pane below that doesn't move. It is the same split as the fixed window with top light, but with an opening in the upper pane instead of fixed glass. That suits a bathroom, WC or stairwell where you want to air the room now and then without a sash swinging open at eye level.
The standard size is 1,100 × 1,800 mm, with the tilt-in sash taking a quarter of the height and the fixed pane the rest. If in that same spot you do want full ventilation and the option of cleaning the glass from inside, the tilt and turn window with tilt-in top light — the same window with a tilt and turn sash instead of the fixed lower pane — is the broader choice.
