Why a 4-pane window, 2 tilt and turn in Schüco LivIng Verdiept 6?

The Schüco LivIng Verdiept 6° is the version of the LivIng Variant in which the sash is recessed into the outer frame, with a 6° chamfer on its face — the look most common on Dutch houses, with the sash set back. The system is 120 mm deep; the outer frame is 90 mm wide and, together with the sash, shows a 140 mm sightline (Schüco system manual, Systemschnitt 6°). The sash is 82 mm deep and carries a steel box section; the rebate takes glass from 24 to 52 mm. The stated value for the profile is Uf 1.1 W/m²K. A tilt and turn sash at both ends, two fixed panes in the middle: this wide window puts the openings where most rows of windows have them — at the sides.

This window is a mirror image: a tilt and turn sash on the left, two fixed panes in the middle, a tilt and turn sash on the right. That gives ventilation at both ends and keeps the centre — usually the part with the best view — free of hardware and of mullions that would have to sit closer together. Compared with the 4-pane window with one tilt and turn sash, this is more hardware but also a symmetrical look, with an opening at each end instead of just one.

The standard size is 3,200 × 1,500 mm, split across four panes. If you would rather have only one opening in this width, the 4-pane window with one tilt and turn sash is the simpler and cheaper choice.
