Of the four 3-pane windows (the 3-pane fixed window, this one, the 3-pane window with two tilt and turn sashes, the 3-pane window with three tilt and turn sashes), this one has only one pane that opens. That is the cheapest way to be able to ventilate through a wide window: two fewer sets of hardware than if all three panes were tilt and turn. In the configurator you choose which side the tilt and turn pane goes on.
The standard size is 2,400 × 1,500 mm, split equally between the three panes. If you need more air than one pane gives, the 3-pane window with two tilt and turn sashes or the 3-pane window with three tilt and turn sashes is the broader choice in the same size.
This window suits a living room or dining room where the view of the garden matters most and one opening for air is enough — for example because there is also a door in the same room. Put the tilt and turn pane on the side where the room has space for a sash swinging open; on the other side the glass stays unbroken right up to the wall.
Compared with the 3-pane fixed window (fixed throughout), you pay here for one set of hardware; compared with the 3-pane windows with two and three tilt and turn sashes, you save on every set you don't take. Two fixed panes and one tilt and turn pane is, in practice, the most chosen split of the four 3-pane windows, because it covers most situations without unnecessary hardware.
For this layout, measure the full width of the opening in one go; which pane turns and which two stay fixed, you specify separately in the configurator. When deciding where it goes, allow for the swing space of the one tilt and turn pane — the two fixed panes beside it can go right into a corner of the room, because nothing there needs room to move.
Maintenance is limited to the one tilt and turn pane; the two fixed panes beside it need nothing. Colour and finish follow the same chart as any other pane, and with three panes side by side most people choose one continuous colour across the full width — that keeps attention on the view rather than on the window itself, and at the same time hides which pane actually opens.
In a renovation, people often choose this layout when the old arrangement already had three panes of which only one opened — the layout of the room is then already set up for it. In a new build, where the tilt and turn pane goes is usually decided by a furniture layout that is already fixed, so the sash never swings into a sofa or a table already drawn on the plans.
For break-in resistance, the one tilt and turn pane is the point to watch; the two fixed panes beside it have no hardware to get a grip on. For a ground-floor window, ask about a stronger locking cylinder on the tilt and turn pane.
In the two fixed panes you can use the heaviest glass with no consequences for hardware; in the tilt and turn pane, weight counts for the hardware. The configurator checks this per pane as soon as you enter the size and the glass.

Request my quoteFrequently asked questions about a 3-pane window, 1 tilt and turn
Which side does the tilt and turn pane go on?
You choose that in the configurator. Usually the side where the room has space for the sash swinging open, or where the handle is easiest to reach.
Is one tilt and turn pane enough for a room this wide?
That depends on the room behind it. If in doubt, the 3-pane window with two tilt and turn sashes — one fixed pane and two tilt and turn panes — is the step in between for more air without making all three panes open.
Can the tilt and turn pane go in the middle instead of at one side?
The standard layout puts it at one side; in the configurator you can enter a different order if your elevation calls for it. Bear in mind that an opening centre pane keeps the two fixed panes either side of it matching.
Is this window heavier to fit than the 3-pane fixed window?
Hardly: the weight is mainly in the glass, and one tilt and turn pane changes that very little. The hardware itself is light compared with the window as a whole.
