This layout is the mirror image of the front door with side panel on the left: the same 1,000 mm door, with a fixed side panel — on the right this time. Which of the two you need depends on the wall: which side has room for the panel, and from which side you walk up to the door from the street or the drive.
The standard size is 1,450 × 2,100 mm, the same as the front door with side panel on the left. If you want light on both sides, the front door with side panels on both sides is the wider option; if you would rather have no side panel, the front door on its own is the narrower one.
The right comes into play in the mirror-image situation: a drive or path that reaches the door from the right, or a wall with no room on the left — next to a garage, a bay or a store. In the standard size the side panel is 450 mm wide against the 1,000 mm of the door, narrow enough not to look like a separate pane and wide enough to make a real difference in the hall.
In practical terms, it makes no difference to the price whether the side panel goes on the left or the right: the same amount of glass, the same frame length. The choice comes down to which side does most for your house — look at where the panel can let light through unobstructed, not against a cupboard, a staircase or an internal wall.
For this layout, measure the full width of door plus side panel in one go; the configurator splits it in the standard proportion, or you set a different split yourself. As with a single door, check the threshold height and the floor finish on both sides — that decides how the threshold is finished.
You choose colour and finish for the door and the side panel separately, though most people have them in the same colour for a calm look. The glass in the side panel is a separate choice, from fully clear to obscure or patterned glass, depending on how much privacy you want against how much light. The side panel itself needs very little maintenance because it carries no hardware; the attention stays with the door, where the lock is in use every day.
In a renovation, people choose this layout to bring daylight into a dark hall, which usually means widening the existing door opening in the wall — something to discuss with your builder beforehand. In a new build, the side the panel goes on is usually decided in the design by the path from the street or the drive to the front door.
For security, the door itself remains the point to watch, with its multi-point lock and hinges; the fixed side panel has no lock. The glass in the side panel does deserve a look — laminated glass offers more resistance than ordinary double glazing if the door is on the ground floor.
The side panel carries no hardware load; only the door leaf does. The configurator checks whether the hardware of the door design you choose suits the size you enter.

Request my quoteFrequently asked questions about a front door, side panel right
What is the difference from the front door with side panel on the left?
Only the side the panel goes on: on the right here, on the left in the other layout. Size and construction are otherwise the same.
Does the side panel open as well?
No, the side panel is fixed glass. It lets light in; it is not a second door.
Does choosing left or right affect the price?
No, the amount of glass and the frame length are the same either way. The choice comes down to what suits your house and the way you approach the door.
Can I combine this side panel with a different door design from the left-hand version?
Yes, the choice of door design is independent of which side the panel is on. In the configurator you choose the two separately.
